Our articles are written by Josie Shillabeer and a small team of qualified contributors, including nutritional therapists Chandy Rodgers, Helen Morton and Paula Jones, and naturopath and homeopath Sonia O'Donnell. From time to time we also publish articles by guest writers from across the natural health field.
To learn more about who is behind each article, visit our Meet the Team page.
We publish new articles regularly throughout the month, with content spanning nutrition, lifestyle medicine, product reviews and trusted recommendations. The best way to keep up with everything we publish is to join our monthly newsletter, which rounds up the latest articles, exclusive discount codes and Josie's favourite product of the month, all in one email.
To subscribe, visit our newsletter page.
Yes. We are always happy for our articles to be shared on social media, in newsletters, or with friends and colleagues who might find them useful. If you would like to quote from an article or republish it in part, please credit The Health Puzzle and include a link back to the original article on our website. Quotes should be used in context, without alteration to the wording, and in a way that does not misrepresent the article's meaning or imply endorsement by The Health Puzzle of anything we have not explicitly endorsed.
For anything beyond a short quote, for commercial use, or for republishing an article in full, please email info@thehealthpuzzle.co.uk to discuss. We reserve the right to request that any content be removed if we feel it misrepresents The Health Puzzle.
One of the most powerful tools for supporting your health is understanding the medical and natural health terminology you come across. Our Dictionary is a growing reference designed to help you do exactly that. From bile acids and endocrine disruptors to lipids, neurotoxins and dysbiosis, each entry explains what the term means and where you are likely to come across it, in language that is easy to follow. Whether you are reading something on The Health Puzzle or anywhere else, the Dictionary is here as a quick reference you can return to whenever you read a term you are not sure about.
To explore, visit our Dictionary.
The Safety Checker is our free reference tool for everyday ingredients and materials found in food, drink, personal care, cleaning, cookware and home products. Each entry is rated Yay (the ones that get the green light and are health supportive), May (the ones that are in between) or Nay (the ones to avoid), with a short explanation of what it is, where you are likely to come across it, and why it has earned that rating.
To explore, visit our Safety Checker.
Every rating is decided by our editorial team, based on a combination of peer-reviewed research, regulatory guidance from bodies including the Food Standards Agency and the European Chemicals Agency, and our own clinical knowledge as qualified practitioners. Where the evidence is mixed or evolving, we err on the side of caution and rate accordingly.
We update entries as new research emerges, and from time to time a rating may change as a result. To learn more about how we approach each category, visit our Safety Checker.
Every product and service in our directory has been chosen because we genuinely believe in it. Some have been personally tested by our team and carry a full review and rating, while others are included based on our research, the recommendations of practitioners and trusted sources we work with, and the alignment of the brand with our editorial values.
Brands cannot pay to be listed in our directory, and a paid placement is never the reason a product or service appears here. Some brands enter our 'The Health Puzzle Awards', which carries an entry fee, but entry does not guarantee inclusion in our directory or an award. Every editorial decision rests with our team.

Yes. If there is a product, service or recipe you love and think other readers would benefit from, we would love to hear about it. Please email info@thehealthpuzzle.co.uk with a short note about what you would like to suggest and why.
We read every suggestion and look into the ones that fit with our editorial values, but we cannot guarantee that every suggested product, service or recipe will be added.
Some of our recipes are created in-house by our team, and others are shared from trusted sources we have come across and personally enjoyed. Every recipe in our directory has been chosen because it aligns with our editorial values, uses real, recognisable ingredients, and supports a balanced approach to eating well.
