I’ve been wearing Vivobarefoot shoes for many years, since first learning about the benefits of barefoot footwear for long-term skeletal health. I own both hiking boots and trainers, and they’re the shoes I reach for most.
The hiking boots are my favourite. They’re lighter than conventional hiking boots thanks to the thinner sole. I love being able to feel the ground beneath me, and I’ve never once slipped on gravel, mud or ice, which I consider a pretty big win. There’s something about putting them on that feels like being a child about to run outside and explore.
A durability note worth knowing before you buy: both pairs have broken more quickly than I’d expect for shoes at this price point. Despite this, I still wear Vivobarefoot and still recommend them. The honest trade-off is that you’re paying a premium for a brand doing genuinely important work around barefoot awareness and benefiting personally from how much better my feet and body feel wearing them. For me, that’s worth it. But it’s fair to go in with realistic expectations about lifespan and budget accordingly.
