I have seen so many different types of pumpkins, in so many shapes and colours, over the previous few years and it has really made me think.

If you go back a few years we were given just one option, aka big and orange. While this has come about due to photo/decoration trends it does show you just how repetitive and boring our diets are. We really do eat the same foods too often!
If we buy the same type of broccoli, potato, grape, banana, etc every week it feeds the same bacteria, pathogens, fungi etc in our microbiomes and provides us with the same nutrients.
However, if we eat a variety of types of broccoli, potatoes, grapes, bananas etc we feed slightly different bacteria, pathogens, fungi etc in our microbiomes making them more diverse (think of a lovely meadow) and we get a greater variety of nutrients.
If you think of how many different pumpkins we have seen this year, imagine that for every fruit and vegetable! Yes, they really do exist 😲

We have microbiomes all over the body from the gut to our skin. Healthy and diverse microbiomes enable us to look and feel great 🤸
Did you know that 70% of our immune system is in our gut! Therefore it is even more important at this time of year to keep them optimal.
Next time you are in the supermarket, local whole food shop or world foods shop be sure to pick up a new fruit or vegetable you either haven't tried before or look different to your usual variety. Then over time, you will start to make your microbiomes and nutrient intakes more diverse.
This is one piece of your health puzzle pieces sorted!
