Private blood testing from home gives you the ability to take control of your own health puzzle. Sometimes you just know that something is not right, and while you should always see your GP first, going one step further with private testing can give you and your GP more to work with. The at-home testing industry has grown quickly over the last few years, but not all testing services are equal. In this article we share why we recommend Lola Health, and how to get 10% off through our link.

What are the benefits of private blood testing?

Private testing is one of the best things I discovered on my personal health journey. I had chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia for many years, and with no obvious cause, it took quite a lot of digging to get to the root causes and rebalance them. Blood tests enabled me to rule out potential imbalances that I was concerned about and understand the markers that needed attention.

While many tests are only available through a private healthcare practitioner, at-home testing options are now available. At-home blood testing puts the information in your hands and can be especially helpful:

  • If you are about to make changes, whether that is a new way of eating, a training block, or preparing your body for a particular stage of life, a baseline test tells you what to focus on and what to leave alone.

  • If something feels off and routine tests have come back normal, a wider panel gives you and your GP or practitioner more to look at. It will not diagnose anything on its own, but it can move a conversation forward.

  • If you are working with a practitioner, repeat testing shows whether what you are doing together is reflected in your markers, rather than relying on how you feel from week to week.

  • If you are simply curious, there is nothing wrong with that. Understanding your own body is a reasonable thing to want.

Whatever brings you to it, remember that a blood test is a starting point, not a complete answer. It is important that you work with your GP, specialist, or a qualified healthcare practitioner to put a personalised plan in place.

Why we recommend Lola Health

Private blood testing has grown quickly, and not all of it is equal. Many at-home kits rely on a finger-prick sample, which is easy to under-fill or spoil, and a failed sample means another kit and another wait. Some services describe results as “doctor reviewed” without saying what that means. Others never tell you which laboratory is doing the work. We chose Lola Health because it gets the things that matter right.

  • A proper blood draw, done properly. Lola sends a nurse or phlebotomist to your home, or books you into a clinic. Its phlebotomists are DBS-checked, have done at least 100 collections, and post your sample for you on the same day. If you would rather arrange your own draw, that option is free.

  • Credentials you can check. Samples go to a UK laboratory accredited to ISO 15189 by UKAS, and Lola Health Ltd is registered with the Care Quality Commission. Both are on the public registers.

  • A report that is yours. You can download a sample report before you buy, so there are no surprises. Your own results come with reference ranges for your age and sex, a written review from a GMC-registered doctor, and a PDF you can take straight to your GP or practitioner. Lola does not send anything to your GP; you decide who sees it.

  • Panels that make sense. Lola’s tests are built around the markers a practitioner would actually ask for. Vital Check, its most popular test, covers vitamin D, ferritin, thyroid function, and HbA1c in one draw.

Which Lola Health test to choose

Lola’s own advice is to start with Vital Check if you are unsure. The range:

Core Health 45

From £125

A solid first panel: cholesterol, blood sugar, full blood count, liver and kidney function, vitamin D, B12, ferritin, inflammation, and sex hormones. It does not include thyroid markers, so if thyroid is on your list, go one up.

Vital Check 56

From £155

Everything in Core Health plus thyroid function, cortisol, folate, and reproductive hormones. This is the one I would choose for a general baseline.

Peak Insights 70

From £200

The fullest panel, adding advanced cardiovascular markers including ApoB, plus further hormone and immune markers. Allow around four working days for results rather than two.

Female Hormones Clarity 31

From £120

A focused hormone panel. Timing matters: LH, FSH, and oestradiol are best tested on days 2 to 5 of your cycle, progesterone around day 21. Any day is fine if your cycle is irregular or you are post-menopausal.

Prices are for arranging your own draw; an additional fee is charged for a Lola home visit or clinic appointment. Lola schedules appointments Monday to Thursday and Sunday evenings so that samples never sit in the post over a weekend.

Lola Health discount code FAQs

Is the Lola Health discount genuine?

Yes. It comes from our partnership with Lola Health, not a coupon site. The 10% comes off at checkout when you arrive through any button on this page.

How do I use it?

Click through from this page, and the discount is applied automatically. There is no code to enter. If you do not see the lower price at checkout, come back and click through again.

Does it work in the UK and internationally?

Lola’s phlebotomy service is UK only, and home visits are not available everywhere (Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man are excluded). Checkout shows what is available at your postcode. Where a home visit is not possible, you can still order a kit and arrange your own phlebotomist.

How long is the discount valid for?

There is no end date at present. If that changes, we will update this page.

Is it a subscription?

Only if you choose it. The product page may default to Subscribe & Save; select One-time purchase for a single test. Subscriptions can be paused or cancelled from your Lola account.
